Christian Cutler

In celebration of UCM’s 150th Anniversary, UCM Gallery Director, Christian Cutler presents replicated photographs of the UCM campus and its students using vintage photographs ranging from the early 1900s through the year 2000. Cutler merges historical views with present-day scenes that have been photographed from the same viewpoint.

•Yeater Hall, circa 1944 •Yeater Hall, 2021 Built in 1941, Yeater was the first residence hall to be built on the UCM campus. It was named for Laura J. Yeater, State Normal School No. 2 English Teacher and ardent supporter of the women’s suffrage movement.

•Administration Building with nine female students posed around the planter gifted to the campus by the Seniors of 1902 •Administration Building, 2021 The 1902 planter still sits on the university campus and is currently located on the east side of the university chapel.
•Women’s Basketball Team, circa 1920 •Five of UCM’s Jennies, 2021 The 1920s photograph is a creative photo shoot. There are no reports of the step ladder actually being used during games. 2021 team members from top to bottom: Graycen Holden, Nija Collier, Charley Bovaird, Madisyn Pense, and Olivia Nelson.

•Humphreys Building with automobiles, circa 1918 •Humphreys Building with ROTC cadets, 2021 The 1915 fire destroying all buildings except Dockery.
•Dockery Building, circa 1920s •Dockery Building, 2021 On March 6, 1915, a devastating fire ravaged through campus, destroying all buildings except Dockery. The Dockery Gymnasium was added to campus in 1903.
