Scholarship Descriptions

Tony Denman Awards

Tony Denman was a graduate student in the Department of Art & Design who passed away unexpectedly in 1999.  Tony was wheelchair bound but did not let that affect his outlook on life.  His dedication, work ethic, character, leadership qualities, and generosity of spirit were inspirational and led to the establishment of this award.  For many years the award was given anonymously, funded by Professor John Lynch.   The tradition of making two Denman awards is continued and supported through the generosity of Mr. Lynch’s wife, Sheila, and professor emerita of art and design, Ms. Neva Wood.
