The University of Central Missouri Gallery of Art and Design is exhibiting its 54th annual Student Citation Show March 14 – April 2. The Citation Show features art from UCM students who are majoring or minoring in an art or design degree program. Over 30 recognitions, awards, and scholarships will be distributed to students who excel in design and studio artwork.
The UCM Gallery of Art and Design has showcased premier art and creative works from students and acclaimed artists for over 50 years. Artists such as Melissa Wilkinson, Kyle McKenzie and John Rufenacht have all had exhibitions hosted by the gallery within the past five years. The annual student Citation Show is a great opportunity for talented students to showcase their projects in the same place as career artists.
A juried exhibition, the annual student citation show showcases work created by undergraduate students during their studies at UCM. The Citation Show is an opportunity to showcase high-quality art created by students in a professional environment while allowing the public to enjoy art created by their peers and colleagues. This year’s juror is Kansas City interdisciplinary sculptor, Nicole Rene Woodard.
Art from a variety of mediums will be on display throughout the gallery. Up to two exhibition-ready pieces were submitted by student artists, student interior designers, student graphic designers, and student animators throughout the first half of March before spring break.
An awards reception is planned for 3:30 p.m, Wednesday, March 30. The awards reception will showcase the winning art pieces from the exhibit.
